Biography

From the New Jersey Pines, Darren Deicide and Ethel Lynn Oxide bring their “beautifully bleak” style of Gothic Americana to a world bereft of genuine moroseness, raw cynicism, and inventive musicianship. Using homemade vernacular instruments including musical saw and cigar box guitar, The Wedding Funeral unsettle, tease, and disturb their audiences.

Through Kickstarter, The Wedding Funeral successfully crowd-funded their latest full-length album Tales from the Funeral Home in 2024.

Press

“This is a weird one, y’all… A sort of noir-folk project that uses rootsy blues-style instrumentation to jump all around the musical map, from pastoral British folk sounds to deep South blues to bizarre noise interludes."
— RVA Mag

“[The Wedding Funeral is] an incredible band.”
— The Valley Ledger

“As for The Wedding Funeral, they’re something like a folk duo, but not like, uh, Simon and Garfunkel. Rather, they fuse deep, dark bat-cave creepiness onto their acoustic and open-throat howls.”
— EverOut

“The Wedding Funeral delivers doom-laced dirges and macabre ballads that sound like a séance set to strings.“
— Darkside New Jersey

“A spellbinding journey into the beautifully bizarre”
— Gallery Stage
